1. Planning & Pre-Installation Phase
A. Site Assessment & Feasibility Study
- Conduct a site visit to assess the spa’s ventilation and heating system.
- Identify the best location for the HRU installation.
- Evaluate airflow requirements, space constraints, and ducting routes.
- Confirm electrical and plumbing requirements.
B. Design & Specification
- Choose a suitable HRU model based on building size, occupancy, and energy efficiency needs.
- Ensure compliance with Part L of the Building Regulations for energy efficiency.
- Coordinate with spa management to schedule installation with minimal disruption.
C. Approvals & Compliance
- Obtain necessary approvals from Grahams Housing and any required local authority permissions.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety (HSE) regulations and BS EN 308 standards for heat recovery ventilation.
2. Installation Phase
A. Preparation
- Secure the installation area and ensure minimal disruption to spa operations.
- Arrange required tools, materials, and protective equipment.
- Isolate electrical and ventilation systems where necessary.
B. Installation of Heat Recovery Unit
- Mounting the HRU: Secure the unit in the ceiling.
- Ducting Installation: Connect supply and exhaust ducts to the HRU, ensuring proper air circulation.
- Condensate Drainage: Install a drain to prevent water build-up.
- Electrical Connections: Wire the HRU to the power supply and control panel
C. System Testing & Balancing
- Check for air leaks, pressure levels, and correct airflow direction.
- Ensure filters and fans operate correctly.
- Balance the airflow to achieve optimal efficiency.
3. Post-Installation & Handover
A. Final Inspection & Compliance Check
- Verify compliance with building regulations.
- Conduct an air quality test to confirm efficiency.
- Obtain sign-off from a qualified engineer.
B. Training & Documentation
- Provide spa staff with user instructions for operation and maintenance.
- Supply warranty and service documentation.
C. Ongoing Maintenance & Support
- Schedule periodic maintenance (filter changes, system checks).
- Offer a troubleshooting guide for common issues.
